Few services are as rewarding for the office of Peter O. Cabrera, DDS and Bahareh Sabzehei DDS, MS, Periodontics and Dental Implants to provide than same-day dental implants. Known by many names, not limited to TeethXpress and All-on-4®, this dentistry service allows our patients in Chicago, Illinois, to enter our office without any teeth and to leave with a complete smile and all of their teeth in just one hour! While it may seem almost miraculous to our patients, the “magic” of this process comes down to precision planning.
What to expect
As specialists in periodontics and dental implantology, Drs. Cabrera and Sabzehei have the advanced knowledge and technologies to precisely and painlessly replace teeth and reconstruct mouths with dental implants.
Each implant is surgically positioned in the jawbone. They are made from materials designed to naturally join the surrounding bone in the jaw. Then, the implant becomes a part of the bone. This is a defining and vital characteristic because the implants must function as artificial tooth roots to support the dental restorations.
A single implant is placed to stabilize or support one replacement tooth or crown. A minimum of four to six implants may be placed to stabilize all replacement teeth in the upper or lower denture as part of the “same-day” or “immediate” implant process. Due to this feature, this implant service is often characterized as “All-on-Four” or “All-on-4®,” as noted above.
Before placement, a surgical guide is designed based on three-dimensional scans and molds of patients’ mouths. This advanced guide supports precision implant surgery. Implants within these systems must be applied in the most optimal locations, which helps ensure the implant’s success and its connected restorations. Implant failures are minimized.
Furthermore, precision placement allows us to make the most of available bone in the jaw. There must be sufficient bone to provide a foundation for the implant. In fact, we will consider many factors that are not limited to bone health and density when recommending specific treatments. There is no single treatment or approach that is appropriate for all patients.
A final note: Same-day implant services can fill gaps in your smile immediately; however, these dentures are provisional or temporary. To ensure the proper fit that promotes lasting health, comfort, function, and satisfaction with your new teeth, we must allow the jawbone to heal and the implant to properly integrate into the bone before placing the final or permanent denture.
Peter O. Cabrera, DDS and Bahareh Sabzehei DDS, MS, Periodontics and Dental Implants welcomes any questions you may have about immediate implants and options for tooth replacement.
