Meet Dr. Kimberly Sheppard - Periodontics and Dental Implants

Meet Dr. Kimberly Sheppard, DDS

Dr. Sheppard has been in private practice since 2004, bringing over two decades of expertise in advanced dental care. In addition to her private practice, she has served as Adjunct Clinical Faculty at Texas A&M College of Dentistry where she mentored and instructed graduate students in implant surgery. Her dedication to education, leadership, and innovation in dentistry continues to shape the next generation of practitioners.

She is dedicated to educating patients on the critical link between periodontal health and systemic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and inflammation-related disorders. By integrating the latest advancements in laser technology and evidence-based periodontal therapy, she strives to improve not only oral health but also the overall health and well-being of her patients.

Dr. Sheppard grew up in Southeast Iowa. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees at the University of Iowa in 1993. She attended the University of Iowa’s College of Dentistry and earned her DDS in 2001. Immediately following graduation, she was accepted as a resident in the Department of Periodontics and earned her certificate in Periodontics in 2004.

Upon finishing her residency at the University of Iowa, she and her family moved to the suburbs of Chicago. She started Sheppard Periodontics, practicing there until the family moved to Dallas in 2019. She joined one of the largest periodontal practices in Texas where she not only practiced, but became the Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Sheppard is an active member in her dental community in both Illinois and Texas. In 2005, she co-founded The Northwest Society of Women Dentists.

Dr. Sheppard resides in Chicago with her husband of 32 years. Her husband is an attorney, her son is in the US Marine Corp and her daughter will graduate from Loyola University next year. She is very active and enjoys long walks and riding her bike. She loves cooking complicated dishes and, of course, eating them. Her real passion is traveling whenever possible.
